Winton Homes and El Paso Saddleblanket will join together in a joint "adventure" of building several Southwest themed gated communities in the El Paso region building unique designed homes utilizing the decor of combined cultures of the Cowboy, Mexican, and Indian.
The gated communities will feature biking and hiking trails, green certified, earth friendly, energy efficient homes, etc. plus many other special features. Winton Homes will exclusively build the Saddleblanket Branded Signature Homes. The decor of these homes include Santa Fe Fireplaces, Mexican Hand
painted tiles, Antique Doors and rustic hardware, great sunset patios, beautiful iron gates, iron
chandlers, mesquite fireplace mantels as standard features. Even doggie doors will be a
standard feature of our homes. There will also be a host of optional accessories.
The first community will be near Santa Teresa and the Upper Valley, in a part of the Edgemont
community currently under development. To be called Saddleblanket Mesa, it will be a 38 lot,
patio home style gated community. It is located at off Artcraft Road on NM273. We will have 2
model homes and 5 plan choices but will encourage the buyers to participate in decorating and
designing allowing their own customization. Home prices can include complete furnishings by
Saddleblanket Home Collection.
We anticipate the second community to be called Saddleblanket Village an built at the corner
of Borderland and Westside Drive in the Upper Valley. It is approximately 60 acres and will have
4 housing styles including live/work, mansion condos and two detached housing options done in a
Rustic Taos type of architecture. The village has tree-lines streets throughout the neighborhood
and a small downtown. It also has 4 open parks. One park will emulate a small plaza.
We hope to find a third location of about 200 acres where we will build Saddleblanket Ranch.
It will offer acreage tracts as well as higher density housing options. We envision equestrian
trails plus hike and bike trails, greenebelts and conservation zones. We plan huge statues by
known Mexican Artist and many cutting edge life style amenities. Residents will have access
to nearby riding stables and the plan also calls for a community owned herd of Longhorn cattle.
The public spaces will host community sponsored concerts, art shows and other cultural events.
This is probably the most unconventional part of the whole project. In addition to the regular
Realtors and the well established professional in-house sales staff of Winton Flair Homes,
Saddleblanket World Headquarters will play a huge part in generating leads. The plan calls
for a permanent sales booth inside the two acre store with plot plans, blue prints and computer
animated designs complete with floor plans and interior designs.
Promotional materiel will be inserted in every bag of goods sold in the store. Regular advertising
for the homes will be included in Saddleblanket's 65,000 weekly email newsletters, plus
announcements in all EPSB printed catalogs which totals about 600,000 per year. This gives
us an opportunity to reach new markets from the I-10 "drop-in" business. Daily traffic count on
the I-10 is over 200,000 vehicles. In additional buyers, we will target retires from the northern states
and California. There will be an informational large wide screen television going non-stop. Anyone
who purchases a Saddleblanket brand home will be able to purchase all El Paso Saddleblanket
products at a discounted wholesale price as long as they reside in that home.
Saddleblanket owner Dusty Henson said, "The folks up north got hammered with both snow
and daily gloom and doom economic news, so I think they will be ready for some great year round
weather and a great economy with a much lower cost of living than about anywhere. Hell Man, I'm
ready to see some growth WITH PROSPERITY for a change. "
Scott Winton feels this would have a positive impact on growth for the El Paso area. "Dusty's
marketing extends way beyond the El Paso area. I think we will see a lot of retirees decide to
move here for the lifestyle these housing options offer." he said.
